Obituary for Linda Belle Ormiston (Groves)

Linda Belle Groves Ormiston
May 31, 1935 ~ March 29, 2017

Linda Belle Groves Ormiston, 81, of Victoria died on Wednesday, March 29, 2017. Services will be held at Exray Cemetery on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 11:00 am with Gary Williams officiating.

Linda Belle was born on May 31, 1935 in Wellington,Texas to George Belle Groves and Ava Lee Moring Groves. She spent most of her years growing up on a small farm in Huckabay, Texas with little sister, Lida Nell and 3 rascally brothers; Lee, Bill, and baby brother, Bob. The 4 children worked hard and played hard, as children who grow up on a farm do. Most importantly, they knew the value of family and they loved and cared for each other. The childhood antics of Linda Belle, her sister, and brothers were on her mind until the day she went to be with Jesus. The Groves kids lived a hard life, as did many children who grew up in the Depression, but they always had each other and together they made the best of it.

During her High School years, Linda Bell had many accomplishments including: Beauty Queen, guard on the 1st time State Play-offs girls Basketball team, and Salutatorian of her senior class.
Later Linda Belle and younger sister Lida Nell went on to attend Tarleton College. The girls worked at Jake and Dorothy’s to pay for their tuition and rent. That’s when Linda met and later married “Bud” Earle Edward Ormiston of New Brunswick, New Hampshire. He had just finished a Tour of Duty in the Korean War.

The Love of Linda’s life were her two children, Scott Edward Ormiston, Julia Ormiston (Gonzalez) and Linda’s grand-daughters Kristin Ormiston, Jessica Ormiston, Railey Belle Gonzalez , Reagan Nell Gonzalez, and great granddaughter Harleigh Ormiston.
Due to natural causes, Linda went to be with our Lord on March 29, 2017. Linda is survived by her brother Bob (Rita) Groves, sister in laws Dorothy Groves and Mary Groves, son Scott (Tammy) Ormiston, daughter Julia (Roland) Gonzalez, grandchildren Kristin, Jessica, Railey, Reagan, and great granddaughter Harliegh. She is further survived by her many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by the siblings she adored Lee Groves, Bill Groves and sister, Lyda Clark.
